Steel prices on December 24 delivered in May 2023 on the Shanghai Exchange fell 13 yuan to 3,987 yuan / ton.
Steel price for October delivery on the Shanghai Exchange fell 45 yuan compared to yesterday’s session, to 3,937 yuan/ton.
According to the World Steel Association (WSA), the world steel demand will increase by about 1% in 2023 thanks to the motivation of public investment as well as the situation of energy shortage has been controlled in the world; in which, the ASEAN region will lead the growth in steel consumption thanks to strong investment orientation for infrastructure.
In addition, the European market’s steel supply in 2023 is forecast to continue to lack due to high energy prices. Vietnamese enterprises can boost exports to this market.
However, by the end of November, the situation of export and domestic steel consumption remained gloomy. The Vietnam Steel Association (VSA) said that in November, the situation of construction steel production continued to decline compared to the previous months and the same period in 2021 due to a steel company cutting production. Specifically, construction steel production in November reached 682,800 tons, down 5% from the previous month and down 37% compared to November 2021.
Sales of construction steel reached 874,631 tons, up 23% month-on-month and flat compared to the same period in 2021. In which, construction steel exports reached 97,462 tons, down 52.5% compared to November 2021.
Generally, in the first 11 months of the year, construction steel production reached 11.2 million tons, flat compared to the same period in 2021. Sales of construction steel reached 11.2 million tons, up 3%, of which exports reached 2 million tons, equivalent to the same period in 2021.
Domestic steel prices on December 24 recorded stability after a correction session on the afternoon of December 8.
Northern steel price today
From the afternoon of December 8, the steel brand VAS has adjusted its steel price, with CB240 coil standing at 14,570 VND/kg; D10 CB300 rebar line is priced at 14,570 VND/kg.
Hoa Phat steel brand maintains the same selling price, with CB240 steel coil at 14,500 VND/kg; D10 CB300 rebar is priced at 14,600 VND/kg.
Vietnam Italy steel brand, currently CB240 steel coil at 14,750 VND/kg; D10 CB300 rebar line is priced at VND 15,050/kg.
Viet Duc Steel, currently CB240 coil line remains unchanged at 14,280 VND/kg; and D10 CB300 rebar is priced at 14,090 VND/kg.
Viet Sing Steel, currently CB240 coil at 14,620 VND/kg; D10 CB300 rebar is priced at 14,920 VND/kg.
Viet Nhat steel price adjusted, with CB240 coils priced at 14,620 VND/kg; rebar D10 CB300 at 14,820 VND/kg.
